If you live in another area or need a rush order, please email or send clear photos of your house or specific view. They don't have to be professional quality, just good enough to get the main view and details.
PHOTOGRAPHIC GUIDELINES:
Make sure you take the photos on a day when there is some sunlight on the subject. Depending on how the building is facing, morning or late afternoon is the best time. It's also helpful to shoot the house on an overcast day, when shadows are not as black as on an extremely sunny day.
A slight left or right perspective is usually the most appealing angle. On occasion, straight on can be very dramatic. If you are unsure, send one of each and I'll give you my opinion. Try not to cut off any portions of the house. If trees are blocking the view, go up to where you can see the structure and shoot that portion. Hold the camera as horizontal as possible.
If you can't get the entire house in the photo, shoot one half of the house, and move over to take the other half ( keeping the same distance to the house as the first picture). In some rare cases, you may need to shoot 3 or 4 sections to capture the entire property especially if there are outbuildings.
Take some pictures of the details you like of your house: the front entrance, unique windows, porches, side facades, important landscape elements. Don't worry about power lines or other unattractive items, they will be eliminated in the painting.
Make any comment you wish when you send the pictures (i.e. - what to eliminate and/or what to add). If you send more than one main reference, indicate which one you like the most.
Once the photos are received, I'll call to have a thorough discussion of emphasis and details before beginning your painting. I consider a portrait commission to be a collaborative project.
